My areas of expertise are Menopause, Sexual Health and Urinary incontinence in women. I draw upon my three decades of experience working with over 400,000 women with a wide variety of gynaecological problems and using medical, surgical, psychotherapeutic, counselling, nutrition, functional movement and holistic methods of managing their issues. I also draw upon my experience of surgery, medication and psychotherapeutic interventions that I underwent to recover from spinal surgery, fibromyalgia and disability to live a life of fitness, energy and vitality. I believe that a person-centred approach is the best one when treating any health problem. I focus on strengthening the pillars of mindset, movement and nutrition to build functional health and fitness before embarking on treating a condition with any intervention that needs surgery or medication. A typical consultation with me involves an in-depth history-taking session where I help clients set expectations for managing their condition and the benefits they can expect from a holistic approach. I use various tools to educate them about their condition, offer relevant assessments or tests, and outline a management plan that could involve other professionals like physiotherapists, counsellors, nutritionists, or acupuncturists. I typically schedule a follow-up session to discuss the results of assessments or tests and feedback about changes in nutrition, movement or following counselling or medication. Review sessions take place after two weeks, one month, three months and six months of an intervention if required.
My own health challenges following spinal surgery in 2003, meant that I had to develop my knowledge and skills and reinvent my career. I trained in Sexual and Reproductive health, Menopause, Contraception and Psychosexual therapy. I studied personal development, pain management, meditation, hypnotherapy, EFT, EMDR and several forms of 'therapies' to manage the pain and disability that plagued me following surgery. My challenges forced me to take action and pay attention to all areas of my life. These efforts have blessed me with careers, friends, social gatherings, community and the joy of learning new things. I count my challenges as my greatest gifts. You may be surprised to know that the study of the Menopause as a clinical discipline is barely 50 years old and it wasn't until the 1980's that serious research began. Many women suffer in silence, unable to voice their concerns or talk about their most intimate problems. Doctors across the world are still not well equipped to handle the challenge of over a billion women globally who will experience menopause and its accompanying problems in the coming years. Many women who go through the menopause, like me, are ill prepared to meet the several challenges that lie on their path. I help women to love their menopause journey and to master the skills and knowledge that allow them to do so. They learn how to design their own holistic plan to embrace their wellbeing including their physical, psychological, sexual and spiritual health. I help them to move from fear and frustration to feeling confident and secure in their approach to wellbeing. My approach to managing the menopause gives several amazing benefits. It helps women understand and manage fitness, nutrition, breast health, bone health, heart health, urinary symptoms, menopause symptoms, sexual health, psychological health, skin health, relationship wellbeing, social wellbeing and spiritual wellbeing. This is the transformation I put myself through as I continue to navigate the menopause and the years beyond. I am not just a disseminator of information. I am an experiential doctor, coach and guide travelling the journey with the women I treat. I know that the trajectory of my life has changed forever because of the way I managed my menopause. I want other women to know this is within their reach and they can change the trajectory of their health and wellbeing, even if they have never paid attention to it before.
Since 2003 my focus shifted from mainstream Obstetrics and Gynaecology to Menopause, Sexual and Reproductive Health and managing Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in women. As a Sexual Medicine Consultant I also deal with sexual disorders and dysfunctions in men and women of all ages. I am involved in Adolescent sex education and community preventive sexual health care which includes screening for cervical cancer, contraception and screening for sexually transmitted infections and counseling for a variety of health conditions. Since qualifying as a Senior WILDFIT Coach and International Meipadam and Karlakattai Coach (Ancient Indian Functional Fitness Martial Art) I have focused on teaching the foundations of health through my digital courses and in person consultations. This includes mindset, movement and nutrition. I truly believe 90% of illnesses can be made better with this approach. Most lifestyle and sexual disorders need a Bio-Psycho-Social and sometimes Spritual approach to healing and recovery. Sometimes a change in perspective can make the difference between feeling broken and needing fixing to feeling empowered and in control of our destiny. My coaching experience allows me to help clients achieve this change in a powerful and long lasting way.
Women aged 25- 70 who wish to understand and improve their hormone health and well-being are open to a holistic and functional approach to a better quality of life—particularly those who want to explore the practical and integrative approach for everyday lifestyle-related disorders. Women who want to explore the role of optimal nutrition and functional movement and work on their mindset and relationships to improve their quality of life. I help couples, women and men who suffer from sexual disorders or dysfunctions affecting their relationships and quality of life. All areas relating to women’s health from the cradle to the grave!

2023-01-31 at 7:16 pmMy sincere thanks to Dr. Neelima Deshpande for organizing the course on understanding Menopause. The timing couldn’t have been better.
Today there is a lot of information in the University of google and that can create havoc, but having correct information is important and that I got through these classes.
The classes were precise and took you through all the stages. Thus, it was not overwhelming nor is there anything to panic about. We just need to make lifestyle changes and take control. The tips and exercises mentioned may look time consuming but is definitely worth trying.
Would definitely recommend the classes to one and all.
Regards
Girija

2023-01-31 at 7:16 pmI was very fortunate to be a part of Dr. Neelima Deshpande’s “Mastering Menopause” online sessions. These 5 sessions made a dramatic change in my overall outlook towards my mental & physical health during these trying years. I have a new perspective towards looking at my body and my small aliments which come on & off and Dr. Neelima’s method and guidelines have made me promise myself a New ME who will change her own health trajectory!
The tools and techniques which she has explained will not only help me but also my daughters during the years of menopause. The books that she has recommended are a value add as well.
I recommend every woman to attend her sessions and give her own self the best gift ever.
Lets celebrate womanhood with pride and empowerment!

2023-01-31 at 7:17 pmRecently, I attended an online course entitled “Master Menopause” conducted by Dr. Neelima Deshpande. It was so worthwhile and relevant. It felt like the most well-rounded course I’ve ever been to. It was spread over five sessions, for an hour each, consisting of 4 main sections where the presenter talks about the evolutionary journey of menopause followed by the physical, psychological and urogenital symptoms and other aspects of Menopause. The workshop concluded with the speaker providing the participants a comprehensive, practical, and holistic, yet evidence-based plan to beat the myths of menopause and embrace it with a positive mind. I’d like to thank Dr. Deshpande for showing me the way to a better and meaningful menopausal journey. It has been an eye opener.
The highlights of the course have been the simplicity and lucidity of the talks, the breadth and the depth of the contents which clearly are very well researched and the culmination of the course with a clear pathway to overcome this challenging milestone with fortitude and pride. And the best part is the leader is an amazing speaker who can keep you engaged and enthralled till the very end leaving you wanting for more. What more could you ask for?
So, I’d like to conclude by saying if there is ever a second one by her, make sure you’re on it. It’ll be a worthwhile experience, I can guarantee that.
Best wishes,
Chandrima Sen
