What the *Bleep* is Osteopathy?

Podcast Episode #: 93
How to tap into the inner physician

Interview with: Christal Geier, DO(MP),CAT( C ), B.Kin

Growing up on a Saskatchewan farm and as an avid athlete, frequent injuries fueled my passion for understanding and preventing them, leading me to study athletic therapy and kinesiology. An injury temporarily shifted my path to the insurance industry, where I discovered the “no man’s land” of healthcare—symptoms without clear diagnoses. Seeking to help in this space, I pursued osteopathic education, learning to decode pain and dysfunction as information for healing. During COVID-19, I developed the ability to support healing energetically from a distance, now offering both in-person and remote sessions to help clients achieve wellness and balance.

In today’s podcast we explore:

  • What is Osteopathy, really?
Founded in the late 1800s by Dr. A.T. Sill
  • The 4 principles of Osteopathy—a brief description?
  • Why is Osteopathy so misunderstood or overlooked, especially in Canada?
  • What makes Osteopathy different from chiropractic, physiotherapy, or massage therapy?
  • How does osteopathy view the body’s ability to heal itself?
What does “self-regulation” mean in practice?
  • A case study about how healing works?
  • Are there specific conditions or symptoms that osteopathy tends to be particularly helpful for — ones that surprise even practitioners?
  • If someone’s intrigued but unsure, what’s one small step they could take to explore osteopathy for themselves?
  • What do you wish more people understood about their own bodies?
  • Is there a question no one ever asks—but you wish they would?
